Awakening from a coma following emergency brain surgery, Michelle had a vision of a beautiful light-filled rose garden which inspires her to this day. Consequently, her current work consists of contemporary portraits of roses on round canvases exploring varying personalities and forms throughout their life cycle. The theme of light and darkness represented by strong shadows gives dimension to the roses and the impression of a benevolent light source. The round canvases symbolise wholeness, the cycle of life and eternity, and invite the viewer to dwell and contemplate, whilst the roses themselves symbolise love, beauty and divinity.
Michelle hopes her paintings will inspire an awakening in others as she feels she has been entrusted with a mission to share a vision of beauty, hope and inspiration with the world.
She is currently represented by Agora Gallery in New York and will exhibit her paintings in a collective exhibition there in June 2015.
